Product care

Whether you have just bought your very first éN Hat or have a closet full of fedoras, it is essential to take care of your hat properly – in that way you can prolong your hat's life and keep it as fresh as the day you bought it. When it comes to cleaning and storing a hat, there are a few important things to consider.

Cleaning a hat

Our hats are handcrafted using only the finest premium natural materials: wool, wood fiber, agave and wheat straw.

Wool felt hat

As a natural material, wool is water repellent – therefore gentle brushing is enough. Regular brushing will prolong hat life. Best brush for wool felt hat is made of horsehair bristles. Brush your hat with gently counter-clockwise motions to maintain the material's integrity while removing dirt.

If your wool felt hat is looking a little dusty, dust the hat carefully with a damp cloth, but not too wet. For fuzz or pet hair wipe the hat gently with a piece of sticky tape or a lint roller.

Straw hat

Start with a clean, dry cloth and wipe away any surface dirt, dust, and debris. For fuzz or pet hair wipe the hat gently with a piece of sticky tape or a lint roller.

If the dry cloth isn't enough, move on to dust the straw hat with a damp cloth, but not soaking wet. We recommend not to use a colored cloth because dye may transfer to the straw. Wipe in a circular or counter-clockwise direction to avoid damaging the pattern of the weave. Let the hat air dry in a cool, well-ventilated area away from direct sunlight.

Hat storage

When you are not wearing your éN Hat, the best way to storage it is to keep the hat in a cool, clean and dry location.

To prevent the hat from getting dusty, store your hat in its own box. You can purchase the box separately. Otherwise store the hat in a breathable bag made from natural materials, for example cotton. We recommend to never store a hat in a plastic bag because it can cause discoloration and promote mildew.

Hat & weather

Heavy rain and thunderstorms are not good for wool felt hats. Light rain or snow will not damage a felt hat so long as you set it on a flat surface and allow it to dry naturally.

Straw hats should never be worn in the rain as it will not maintain it's shape in wet weather. If your straw hat is visibly wet, wipe off the extra water with a clean and dry cloth.
